This lesson where students practise useful phrases for shopping begins with a warm-up. Students read the definition of ‘souvenir’ and discuss questions about the topic. After that, they read sentences and match the souvenirs with their pictures (e.g. sweets, a T-shirt, a cap, etc.). Next, students complete a sentence (I’ll buy ___ for ___ because ___ .) in three ways to say which souvenirs from the previous task they want to buy for three people (e.g. your boss, your brother, your colleague, etc.). Afterwards, they complete more sentences about souvenirs and travel shopping habits using the words from the lesson and their ideas. Then, students watch a video about a souvenir shop in NYC and answer questions about it. Following that, they talk about souvenirs and shopping preferences.
