Practice 01: Syria

Question:

“Some people believe that ancient historical sites (like ruins or old cities) should be open to all tourists to generate revenue. Others believe access should be restricted to preserve the sites from damage. Which point of view do you agree with and why? Use specific details and examples to support your answer.”

(Record your answer now, then match it with the “model answer” below).

Model Answer for Task 1 (Opinion):

“Personally, I believe historical sites should be restricted to preserve them. Although tourism brings money, the damage caused by large crowds can be irreversible. For example, delicate mosaics or ancient stones can be worn down by footsteps or touching. If we lose this history, no amount of money can buy it back. Therefore, I prefer limited access or virtual tours to ensure these sites survive for future generations.”
