About Course

The main objectives of this ESL lesson are to:

  • talk about common items people buy in souvenir shops;
  • watch a video about a souvenir shop in New York;
  • practise useful phrases for shopping.

With this lesson, students discuss souvenirs and shopping habits while travelling. They explore souvenir vocabulary (e.g. a mug, a keychain, magnets, etc.), work with useful phrases for shopping situations (e.g. Excuse me, I’d like to buy…, That’s… dollars., etc.) and practise dialogues. Students watch a video about a souvenir shop, talk about their experiences and listen to a recording where two people talk in a gift shop. They also discuss a price list and role-play a conversation in a souvenir shop.
